The house was built in 1920 by the Macpherson family, who played a leading role in the
dramatic history of the 1880s, when the Land League fought for fair rents and security
of tenure. So the property is steeped in the history of the Highlands and Islands. The
house itself is built out of solid local stone in the traditional three-dormer style of
Scottish crofts. It has recently been significantly upgraded by the current owners, with
the installation of central heating and other improvements, although some finishing
touches remain to be completed to the taste of the new owners.
