Goat heaven 17 Goat farming has been a central and important part of the lifestyle of the current owners, who have been keeping goats for ten years now, originally in Cornwall. The conditions in Holmisdale suit the keeping of goats extremely well, especially as the property has grazing rights over a thousand acres of Holmisdale common grazings. Goats can take advantage of niche sources of food - such as heather and rushes - which the more prevalent sheep and cattle tend to leave. As a result, the goats did extremely well from the free grazing on the hill, and were in excellent condition by the end of last summer.
