To the west of the Holmisdale road, on rising ground, is a further area of pasture of nearly two acres, which used to be part of the original croft, but is now on a separate title. This is a fine, elevated plot with wonderful views, particularly across to Macleod's Tables to the south-east, as above. The owners now have detailed planning permission to build a three-bedroom traditional croft house on the site shown in the picture - the small white peg on the left marks the front corner of the proposed house. Detailed drawings are available. The property backs on to the hill fence, and there would be enough land to continue to keep animals, if so desired, especially as the traditional hill grazing rights which go with the smallholding have been kept with this building plot, since there is unrestricted access from here to a thousand acres of moorland to the west - the Holmisdale common grazings - in which this plot has a one-nineteenth share. This is a significant asset, and adds to the value of the plot. | |
