The proposal is to build the new house on the flat shelf of land below and to the left of the existing ruin, where it will be more sheltered and secluded. The ruin itself could be restored, and converted into a useful workshop, outbuilding, or even a small holiday let, with the appropriate planning consent. The fences on either side show the boundaries. This is a stimulating and challenging project, which would well suit an enterprising self-builder. The completed buildings would make a lovely home; alternatively, they could then be sold at a profit, or kept as rental property, which would provide a long-term investment and retirement pension plan, once paid for. | |
