Yoga

I had a wonderful win recently which I would like to share:

Last September I started to experience some serious and debilitating pain in my lower right back. Long story short: the X-rays and MRI scan showed I have a degenerative deterioration of the spine, 90% genetic apparently. Specifically, the space between my sacrum and my L5 vertebra had partially collapsed. Suddenly it seemed as if I was going to spend the rest of my life in increasing pain management, not a happy prospect.

To my surprise, my consultant neurologist, a very clever Sikh gentleman with medical degrees from both Oxford and Cambridge, a nationally recognised expert, predicted that my condition could improve, but he offered only one remedy: Yoga.

This played to my advantage because I have practised Sivananda Yoga for 32 years now. So I continued with my daily practice with great difficulty and discomfort; and gradually I started to get my flexibility back. Miraculously, three months later, I am pain-free for the first time in years.

I am so grateful to my Sivananda Yoga practice for rescuing me, when nothing else could. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Interestingly, I spent five days during the middle of this healing process at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram in the Bahamas over Christmas, and the amazing spiritual energy which I encountered there undoubtedly contributed to raising my energy levels, very therapeutic.

The other thing that really helped, I must be honest, was my daily medicinal Cannabis Pill. I never had to resort to pharmaceutical pain-killers; I managed perfectly well with my healing herb, my nutritional supplement. It not only produces beautiful pain relief, but it keeps you in homeostasis and keeps your spirits high. God-given healing. So much to be grateful for.
I believe that Yoga and Cannabis work very well together to produce physical well-being and extended periods of bliss consciousness. I taught myself a daily hour’s routine in 1988 from this book:
THE BOOK OF YOGA: The Complete Step-by-Step Guide by The Sivananda Yoga Centre.
